    Certificate/Associate Degree Programs
    • at least 18 years old, or
    • have a high school diploma, or
    • have a General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
    Bachelor Degree Programs
    • Option 1:
      • Have a high school diploma
      • Pass the 16-credit high school core curriculum with at least a 2.5 and
      • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
      • Submit ACT or SAT test scores
    • Option 2:
      • Have a high school diploma, and
      • Pass the 16-credit high school core curriculum with at least a 2.5 and
      • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5, and
      • Submit ACT test scores of at least 18 or SAT test scores of 955
  • Transcripts

    Current high school students may upload unofficial in-progress transcript at the time of application. Acceptance becomes final when official transcripts with a posted graduation date are received. To be considered official, transcripts must arrive in sealed envelopes from the institution. You may also submit your transcripts electronically through a secure transcript service. Emailed/faxed transcripts will not be considered official.

Transcripts from Canadian institutions (excluding Quebec) are exempt from this requirement; they may be sent directly from the issuing institution.

  • Requirements

    Applicants with more than 30 semester credits must only submit prior college transcript(s). Applicants with less than 30 semester credits must submit high school transcripts and test scores in addition to their college transcripts, and will be evaluated based on all three.

    Transfer applicants with fewer than 30 semester credit hours must submit the results of either the ACT or the SAT examination.

  • How to apply

    The admission requirements for military and veteran applicants are the same as any other transfer student.

    If you have applied through GoArmyEd, you must also fill out an application for admission through UAF. When creating your profile, be sure to use the same email address as in your GoArmyEd application. This is required to match your GoArmyEd application in our system and get your UAF application processed.

    UAF does not waive the application fee for applicants using veteran educational benefits. The exception to this is vocational rehab. If you think you may qualify for this exception, please connect with ​your vocational rehab counselor.

  • Transfer Credit

    +

    We accept credits from Joint Services Transcript (JST), which includes Officer and Warrant Officer training, joint military training conducted by other services, and DANTES funded test scores. We also accept credits from Air University/Community College of the Air Force.

  • Benefits

    You do not have to be admitted to UAF to apply for your VA educational benefits. You do not have to be approved for your benefits before you apply.

  • Requirements

    In general, applicants may be admitted to a graduate program if they have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least a 3.0 (B) cumulative undergraduate GPA and a 3.0 (B) GPA in their major. Please submit the following:

    • resume
    • statement of goals
    • three letters of recommendation

    Please refer to the catalog for more information on additional requirements and materials for a particular program.

    Graduate Licensure applicants will need to provide official ACT, SAT, or GRE scores.

    School of Management applicants will need to provide official GRE or GMAT scores.

    Master and Doctor of Philosophy applicants will need to provide official GRE scores.

    Note: Not all programs will require test scores if you have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Refer to the admission requirements of your prospective degree program to determine which tests are required.

  • Determine if you are an international applicant

    You are not considered an international applicant if you are a:

    • US Citizen
    • US Permanent Resident
    • Refugee
    • Undocumented Resident

    Since you do not require a student visa to attend UAF, you will not need to complete the additional international application steps.

  • Requirements

    The admission qualifications for international applicants are the same as domestic applicants with the addition of:

    • Proof of English Proficiency
    • Official diploma for institutions who do not list a degree and graduation date on the transcript

    Please refer to the other student types (Freshmen, Transfer or Graduate) for program qualifications.

    Minimum required English proficiency:

    • A minimum TOEFL score of 79.
    • A minimum IELTS score of 6.5.
    • Completion of secondary education in Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia or Canada (excluding Quebec).

    Requests for exception to this policy may be submitted via email to the Office of Admissions. Acceptable grounds for waiving this requirement may include:

    • Successful completion (C or higher) of a college-level, non-ESL English composition course.
    • A comparable score on another approved exam such as the ACT, SAT or ACCUPLACER exam.
  • Student visa requirements

    +

    After admission, international students are required to provide specific documents as part of the visa process. Students are required to submit the Financial Statement (PDF), Evidence of Funding and Citizenship Document in order to be issued a visa. Connect with the Office of International Programs and Initiatives early to get the process started.

    International Students who are applying to an online only degree do not need to fulfill the visa requirements.

  • Requirements

    Anyone can take classes at UAF. There are no GPA or transcript requirements to be a non-degree seeking student, however some courses require prerequisite coursework or test scores in order to enroll. Please visit the registration page to sign-up for a class.

    (Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid.)

  • What happens if I apply late?

    For students who miss the main application deadline, an extension is offered for a $25 late fee in addition to the application fee.

    Before you apply late, consider that classes are starting soon and there will be many things to do quickly. Order/submit all of your transcripts right away because delays in submitting transcripts will delay financial aid.

  • What is the postponement deadline?

    If you are unable to attend during your application term, you may delay your admission up to one year after your original application term. Email admissions@uaf.edu to request to postpone or visit http://uaf.edu/admissions/reply/

    $25 late fee for bachelor and graduate applications that are submitted after the published university deadline.

    Certificate and Associate applications will be processed in the order that they are received. We encourage you to apply as early as possible. Applying close to the start of classes may impact timelines related to financial aid and transfer credit.
